When the Toyota Prius debuted in 1997, it ushered in a new era of driving with its state-of-the-art hybrid electric powertrain and keen driving dynamics. Now, the car is set to enter its fourth generation with the 2016 model year with an all-new design, architecture, and power train.
The 2016 Prius keeps with the same basic shape that Toyota has employed from the beginning, but changed the dimensions a bit. The new car is half an inch wider, 2.4 inches longer, and .8 inches lower to the ground, amping up the driving dynamics. On the powertrain front, the new car is said to garner 10 percent better gas mileage, although exact numbers aren't yet available.
